The University’s First Lifetime Achievement Award Presented to Marvin A. Sadowski in Toronto

Marvin has been a board member of our Canadian Friends organization for more than 20 years and served as Vice President from 1993 to 2001. The award was presented in November, 2011 at a Tribute Dinner in Marvin’s honour.

In a moving acceptance speech, Marvin remarked: “I fell in love with the University on my very first visit as I saw Israeli children walking hand in hand with Arab children and I thought that maybe that by educating the children in the same institution may make for a better understanding between the two peoples where everyone can live peacefully.” He added that nothing has been more gratifying than to have been allowed to assist in the progression of excellence displayed by the  University of  Haifa and to be honoured in this way.”

More than 360 guests attended the gala Tribute Dinner. Dinner Chair and Mistress of Ceremonies was Wendy Eisen and Associate Chairs were Lloyd Pollack, Q.C. and Carole Zucker.Marvin’s elder son, Richard, and Wendy Eisen delivered tributes. Prof. Aaron Ben-Ze’ev, together with Canadian Friends’ President, Dr. Michael Dan, presented the award to Marvin. Mr. Amos Gaver also travelled from Israel to attend the event.
