THE PRESIDENT’S SCHOLARSHIPS FOR
OUTSTANDING DOCTORAL STUDENTS

The President’s Scholarships Program is a new initiative designed to attract and sustain the ‘best and the brightest’ young scholars at the University of Haifa. Promoting and rewarding academic excellence among our PhD students is critical to ensuring that a cadre of talented young researchers builds the University of Haifa’s present and future intellectual infrastructure.

Sponsor scholarships of $15,000 a year for four years ($60,000) and forge a personal connection and philanthropic partnership with very deserving students.

Each scholarship covers the University’s annual tuition and a modest stipend for living expenses. To commemorate our 36th anniversary, join us in supporting 360 exceptional fellows at the University of Haifa.

These promising young scholars will not only enrich the academic landscape of the University of Haifa but their research achievements will help to create a brighter reality for Israeli society and the world.

“FROM THE BATTLEFIELD
TO THE CLASSROOM”

This Canadian initiative for Israel Defense Forces (IDF) officers was established by Arthur Dodek, M.D. from Vancouver – a member of the Board of Directors of Canadian Friends of Haifa University and a Governor of the University of Haifa.

IDF officers serve at least four years of compulsory military service and, therefore, start their academic studies at a later age than their peers. Similarly, the load and responsibility they continue to carry as reservists, after entering university, are higher than average and frequently interfere with their studies.

The Faculty of Education offers IDF officers, who have held a commanding position during their military service, a head start by offering them two incentives; financial support for up to three years of studies at the Faculty of Education, and accreditation for the practicum in teaching.

The program is now being expanded to include all Faculties.

“And they shall beat their swords into ploughshares” - Isaiah 2:4
